Election 2012: Candidates gather for Pawleys Island forum

Candidates on the ballot in the Pawleys Island precincts in next week’s election will meet voters today at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Parkersville.

It started out as a 7th District congressional forum, said Bill Murray, an organizer, but Republican Tom Rice wouldn’t commit. With Democrat Gloria Tinubu due to attend, the format was changed to allow candidates for state and local offices to speak and answer questions.

Murray said he’s had a good response for the local candidates. They will make an opening statement and the audience will be able to submit written questions.

Doors open at 6 p.m. The forum starts at 7 p.m.

To learn more about Tuesday’s election, there is a sample ballot online.

To check your voter registration information, go to the state Election Commission website.
