Donald Kennedy, 92, retired from Bell Atlantic

Donald D. Kennedy of Hagley Estates died Jan. 31 at his home. He was 92.
He was born in Batavia, N.Y., the son of Joseph and Teresa Kennedy.
He moved to Washington, D.C., and enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He served on the USS Corregidor and the USS Lafayette.
Mr. Kennedy worked at the Veterans Administration, where he met his wife, Patricia. They celebrated their 71st anniversary in November.
He worked for C&P (later Bell Atlantic) for 36 years. Toward the end of his career he worked at the White House. He moved to Pawleys Island in 1985.
Mr. Kennedy enjoyed golf, family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Linda Martinez (Larry) of Pawleys Island, Suzie Hunter (Tommy) of Surfside Beach, David Kennedy (Colleen) of Kensington, Md., and Kathy Otten (Larry) of Pawleys Island; and five grandchildren, Caitlin, Michael, Zachary, Joseph and Nicole.
His sister, Elinor Wallis, and brother, John Kennedy, died before him.
A family memorial service will be scheduled.
