February 6, 2020

Fernando Soto of Surfside Beach died Jan. 26 at his home, surrounded by family. He was 55.

He was a born on April 18, 1964, in Bronx, N.Y., to Noelia Millan Trocki and Fernando Soto.  He was a 1982 graduate of Patapsco High School in Maryland and continued his education through the American College, earning several designations in the field of insurance.

He and his wife Wanda were married on Feb. 10, 1984, in St. Thomas.

Mr. Soto was a self-employed insurance agent/consultant and financial advisor for his family-owned and operated company, Client First. He was a strong believer in lifelong learning and was constantly striving for new knowledge and a deeper understanding in professional, personal and religious studies.

He lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, his family said. He loved good food and would never turn down an opportunity to enjoy a new recipe or try a new restaurant. He loved music and guitars, playing for himself and for an audience.

Fernando loved his family and would always make time to be with his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Asriel Duran (Chris), Sarah Rice (Michael) and Niná Soto;  his grandchildren, Ayden Duran, Gabriella Duran, and Nolan Rice; his mother and step-father, Joe Trocki; his step-mother, Anna Soto; his siblings, Mimi Castro, James Trocki and Natasha Roman (Natafa); and his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family thanked Rhonda Sharper (Marvin) and Ada Moses for their care, dedication and attention to Mr. Soto, and to Surfside Presbyterian Church Mercy Ministries and many friends and associates who provided support.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Surfside Presbyterian Church.  The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org) or the Assistance Fund (tafcares.org).

Condolences may be sent at burroughsfh.com.
