Herman H. Hanser, 78, co-owned family restaurant

Herman Henry Hanser of Pawleys Island died Feb. 27 at the Lakes at Litchfield. He was 78.
He was born March 18, 1940, in Georgetown County, a son of Rudolph Carl “Dock” Hanser and Esther Bauer Hanser McKenzie. He worked for CSX Railroad for 42 years. He and his wife Juanita Alice Lambert Hanser owned and operated the Hanser House restaurant. Mr. Hanser enjoyed hunting, fishing and collecting sea shells.
He attended Pawleys Island Community Church.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by four children, Geneva Alice Hanser McKenzie (Steven) of Pawleys Island, Herman Henry Hanser Jr. (Lisa) of Andrews, Patrice Michelle Hanser Howell of Myrtle Beach and Heath Hawkins Hanser of Pawleys Island; six grandchildren, Crystal Nichole McKenzie of Murrells Inlet, Ashley Danielle McKenzie of Murrells Inlet, Savanna Dallas McKenzie of Pawleys Island, Donnie Parsons (Buffy) of Georgetown, Chris Parsons of Andrews and Brad Parsons (Kellie) of Georgetown; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Lambert (Elbert) of Andrews; two brothers, Rudolph Carl Hanser Jr. (Betty Jo) of Andrews and Robert Dock Hanser (Joyce) of Andrews; a half-brother, JR McKenzie (Penny) of Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Another sister, Shirley Hanser Cooper, died before him.
A memorial service was held March 3 at the Pawelys Island Community Church Chapel.
