Julia Ann Stalvey, 88, homemaker shared farm values with family
March 19, 2020
Julia Ann Yaun Stalvey of Georgetown died on March 14 after an extended illness. She was 88.
Julia Ann was the daughter of Ruth Flowers Yaun and Luther B. Yaun. She was a graduate of Winyah High School, where she was active in the high school band as well as some local bands as a singer.
She married Ernest Clyde Stalvey Jr. in 1950 at the First Baptist Church. After marriage, she became a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.
Julia Ann was a devoted wife of 57 years before Clyde’s death in 2007 and was a stay-at-home mom for their four children in their Georgetown and Pawleys Island homes. They later moved to their country home residence, because some of her happiest childhood memories were of days visiting her grandmother’s farm in Darlington.
The family increased with the addition of their horses. Their children learned the responsibility of having horses and other animals and Julia Ann shared with them her love of cooking and how to garden vegetables and flowers.
She is survived by four children, Ernest Clyde “Chip” Stalvey III, Rodney “Rod” Jay Stalvey (Lisa) and Gary Rouse Stalvey, all of Georgetown, and Leslie Ruth Boyatt (Tony) of Blue Ridge, Ga.; two brothers, Luther B. Yaun Jr. (Becky) of Greensboro, N.C., and Ralph O. Yaun (Sandra) of Leland, N.C.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, her sister, Peggy Yaun Parsons Ford, and in-laws, Ernest Clyde and Vivian Stalvey, died before her.
Memorial services were Wednesday at the graveside in Elmwood Cemetery.
