Kathy Gray, 71, lived life ‘her way’

Sarah Kathy Gray of Pawleys Island died Jan. 19. She was 71.  

Known as Kathy, she was born Aug. 24, 1950, in Georgetown, the daughter of James T. and Sarah Lee Stewart Smith. 

Kathy lived life “her way.” She was a loving mother and grandmother and family was the most important thing to her.  She devoted her life to raising her daughters. She was a strong, independent, hard-working woman who touched the lives of everyone who knew her. 

She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Gray Moschgat (John) of Pawleys Island and Sheree Lanford (Scott) of Pawleys Island; her grandchildren, Patrick Lanford, Camryn Lanford, Sophie Moschgat and Jack Moschgat; and her brother, Jimmy Smith (Elwanda) of Gastonia, N.C.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center at fundraise.musc.edu.
