Ricky G. Thompson, 63, loved to work with his hands

Ricky Gregg Thompson of Pawleys Island died April 18 at his home with his family by his side. He was 63.

He was born Aug. 25, 1956, in Florence, the son of Cyrus and Jannie Bell Thompson Gregg.

Mr. Gregg was remembered as a hardworking man with a heart of gold. When he wasn’t helping his friends and family, he could be found tinkering on his many projects. He loved working with his hands and making memories with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Funny Thompson; his daughter, Iaishia Bethea of North Carolina; his step-daughters, Dana Funny of Pawleys Island, Crystal Anderson of Georgetown and Anasthia Funny of Columbia; his sister, Suzette Thompson of Florence; four grandsons, four step-grandchildren, his special friends George Pickett and Jerry Sanders, a large extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.

His brothers, Roger and Napoleon Thompson, died before him.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
