Wilma Ervin, 85, kept a lifetime of friendships
January 30, 2022
Wilma Ervin of Heritage Plantation died Sunday after a short battle with cancer. She was 85.
She was born Wilma Irene Marlin on Oct. 5, 1936, in Nashville, Tenn. She spent the next 85 years exploring life while loving her family and friends.
She was interested in everyone she met, from all walks of life, making friends everywhere. She accepted people with a loving heart and always tried to do the right thing, her family said.
She moved with the family several times throughout the country, but worked to maintain her friendships with remembered good times, cards and letters.
Ms. Ervin had been a beloved member of the Pawleys Island community for the last 30 years, devoting more time to the church after caring for her husband, Paul, who died in 2007. Through the years, she read, sewed, baked, played cards, gardened and was her family’s greatest supporter.
She is survived by her children, Marlena Willis (Jake), Christiana Peterkin (Matthew) and William Ervin; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral mass will be held at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will be hosted at the church an hour before. The mass will be live streamed. There is a link at pbocchurch.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Father Pat’s Kitchen, 1633 Waverly Rd., Pawleys Island, SC 29585.
