He was born in Staten Island, N.Y., the son of Andrew R. Neubauer and Anna M. Donovan. Norm graduated from the Augustinian Academy in Staten Island and served four years with the Air Force military police.

He took great pride in his work with the bank and enjoyed traveling the world.

Notable projects were the sale of the Virgil M. Brand coin collection in 1983, which was the largest private coin collection ever formed by a single individual.

Mr. Neubauer later formed a consulting firm, SomersArt, with his wife, Lee, that was instrumental in the sale of the George Costakis collection of avant-garde.

He lived in Branchburg, N.J., until he retired to Pawleys Island.  Later in life he became an active member in the  Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Neubauer enjoyed travel, golf, keeping his mind active in the stock market and, most of all being a connector, who always kept in touch with his family and friends.

He is surivived by his three daughters, Michele Neubauer  (Jeff), Suzanne Freitag (Rich) and Jennifer Neubauer; two grandchildren, Lauren Freitag and Bradley Freitag; his partner of 13 years, Glenda Taylor; her daughter, Olivia Ozycz (Greg), and children Teddy and Ruby; and his nieces and nephews.
