October 31, 2024
Anne H. Robbins of Pawleys Island died Oct. 19 with her life partner by her side. She was 72.
She was born April 15, 1952, in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of Douglas Robert and Margaret Priscilla Robbins. Anne was raised in Jamestown, where she graduated from Southwestern Central High School. She attended Green Mountain College in Vermont and Elmira College in New York, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She worked at the Jamestown Post Journal and The Rutland Herald in Rutland, Vt.
She then earned a master’s degree in education from the College of St. Joseph the Provider in Rutland. She was an elementary school teacher in several Vermont schools including Killington, Bridgewater, Wells and Wallingford before retiring to Pawleys Island.
Ms. Robbins enjoyed exercise and could frequently be found walking and running around her neighborhood in Pawleys with her faithful companion, Sammy Joe, whom she lost only 45 days prior to her passing. She shared her love of fitness with her friends, often teaching a class in her garage. She had a love of skiing as well and was a ski instructor for several years at Killington.
She also loved to read and could often be found with a book in her hands at least at some point everyday. She could never drive by Litchfield Books without stopping to peruse the latest titles.
Ms. Robbins was a parishioner of Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church in Pawleys Island.
She is survived by her partner of more than 30 years, Joe Frankiewicz; her brother, Charles D. Robbins Sr. (Carol) of Mendon, Vt.; her nephew, Charles D. Robbins Jr. (Shelby) of Tinmouth, Vt.; her niece, Heidi Robbins (Dana) of Waitsfield, Vt.; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Celebrations of her life will be scheduled in Pawleys Island and held next summer in Tinmouth.
