Elsie A. Siebert, 86, former Tradition resident

Elsie Ann Siebert, a former Tradition Club resident, died Nov. 6 at the home of her son Robert in Ocala, Fla., following a three-year battle with dementia. She was 86.
She was born Nov. 4, 1938, in Irvington, N.J., the daughter of Alfred and Elsie E. Nordhausen. Elsie grew up in Kearney, N.J., and graduated from Kearney High School. She married Thomas Siebert in 1960. She lived in New Jersey, Connecticut and Georgia before retiring to Pawleys Island. She spent her final years of care in Florida.
Mrs. Siebert was remembered as a cheerful and devoted wife and mother, known for her tuneful humming as she cared for her family. She loved to work in the yard and was an avid reader. After her children reached school age, she held several jobs, her favorites being a property manager, a secretary for a psychiatrist and a hospital volunteer.
She was also part of a bridge club as well as a women’s investment club. She and her husband traveled widely through America and Europe and enjoyed cruising together in their later years.
In retirement, she enjoyed long walks with her girlfriends, water aerobics, Litchfield Beach and neighborhood get-togethers. She was an active member of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church, where she volunteered in the office.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Siebert Jr., his children Abigail and Boyd, Robert Siebert and his children, Dillon and Connor and Mark and Sherry Siebert and their children, Elise, Aaron and Brian; her nieces, Carolyn and Jennifer Seyler; and and her brother-in-law.Jack Seyler.
In addition to her husband, her sister, Nancy Seyler, died before her.
