Martha W. Scott, 81, former rural mail carrier

Martha Wheeler Scott of Garden City died Nov. 10 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. She was 81.

She was born July 9, 1943, the daughter of Willie Wheeler and Eva Player Wheeler.  She graduated from Williamsburg High School and attended beauty school.

She was married to the late Laurie L. Scott and was a former Andrews resident.

Mrs. Scott worked as a rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until retirement. She enjoyed traveling with her family, shopping and eating out with her friend Rose Rogers.

She is survived by her daughter, Lea Creel (Henry); her granddaughter, Caroline Judd (Steven); her brother, Tipton Wheeler (Geri); and several nieces and nephews.

Her sisters, Wynona Wildes, Wanda Yow and Rosie Thomas, died before her as did her brothers, Will Wheeler and Wayne Wheeler, and her grandson, Daniel Altman.

A graveside service was held Wednesday at Tisdale Cemetery in Kingstree.
