Daniel D. Laudone, 82, carpenter with dream to open deli
July 17, 2025
Daniel Dominick Laudone of the Tradition Club died July 9 at his home surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was 82.
He was born March 10, 1943, in New York. Mr. Laudone was a carpenter by trade, but he had a dream to own a fish market and Italian delicatessen. He made that a reality in Clark Summit, Pa., in 1981.
The family business was a great success for 21 years, with his wife, children and other family members at his side.
When Mr. Laudone moved to South Carolina, he became a U.S Home inspector owner, fulfilling his second dream: to build and work with his hands. He was known for his keen eye in construction and his willingness to strive for perfection.
He was devoted to his Catholic faith and involvement in his church was always a priority.
When not in the kitchen making his famous pizza, or living up to his Italian traditions, he was cheering on his New York Yankees, playing golf with his breakfast bunch or surf casting in his favorite place on Long Island.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Laudone; his daughters, Debra Guglielmi (Guy), Gina Martinez (Caytano) and Danielle Scarpelli (Samie); his brothers, Gary Laudone and Ronald Laudone; his grandchildren, Nicole Nucero, Johnny Nucero, Alexandra Lightsinger, Johnny Lightsinger, Gabrielle Cola, Daniel Lutz and Gianna Lutz; and his great-grandchildren, Maddox Duff, Grace Lightsinger, Genevieve Nucero, Noelle Nucero and Marcella Nucero.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
