David L. Prentice, 82, active in All Saints Church

David L. Prentice of Pawleys Island died Dec. 29 at his home with his wife by his side. He was 82.
He was born in DeKalb, Ill., the son of Donald and Alta Prentice. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree from St. Joseph’s University in Hartford, Conn.
Mr. Prentice was a member of All Saints Church for over 25 years. He served on the usher and audio teams, the Men’s Connection Fellowship, a Pastorate and a small group.
He loved to build and fly model airplanes and to fly drones and kites. He also enjoyed candle making, gardening and traveling.
He lived valiantly, in spite of the drawbacks of numerous health issues that never stopped him from trusting God, his family said.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marsha Rees Prentice; his children, Andrew Prentice and Bethany Prentice; a grandson, Alex Myers; a sister, Ann Prentice Hamilton (Christopher) and her children, Stephen Hamilton (Lesley Davidson) and Elizabeth Prentice Short (Joe); his aunts, Bonnie Prentice and Lois Prentice Thorp; his great-nieces, Madeleine Short and Lillian Short; his sisters-in-law, Linda Rees (Ed Baxter) and Meredith Rees Creighton; his nieces and nephews, Christopher Wallace, Layne Creighton Cameron (Mark), Jay Creighton; and his great-nephews, Clay Cameron and Cole Cameron.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Old Church at All Saints, followed by a brief committal at the cemetery and a reception in the Acts Building.
