Lawrence E. Judge, 81, retired from Shell Oil

May 15, 2025

Lawrence E. Judge of Pawleys Plantation died May 6. He was 81.

Known as Larry, he was born Jan. 14, 1944, in Atkinson, Neb., the son of Joseph and Ann Judge. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Atkinson and Tulsa University.

Mr. Judge went on to build a long and successful career with Shell Oil. He brought diligence, kindness and a deep sense of responsibility to all he did, whether in the workplace, at home, or among friends.

He was an active and beloved member of Christ the King Church and a longtime member of Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club, where he took great pride in organizing the Saturday morning men’s golf group. He found joy in the little things: working in the yard, cheering on his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers and St. Louis Cardinals, and especially spending time with his family.

Mr. Judge cherished annual beach weeks with his children and grandchildren and traveled the world alongside his wife, creating memories filled with laughter and love.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children: Lori (Jeff Finan), Lisa (Greg Hammonds), Kristin (Scott Chomko), Michael Judge and Sarah (Scott Lumpkin); 10 grandchildren; his siblings, Joanne Blohm, Sister Rita Claire Judge and Dan Judge

Five other siblings died before him.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ the King Church, 9630 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island, SC 29585, or Mount Saint Scholastica, 801 South 8th Street, Atchison, KS 66002.

There is a guest book at burroughsfh.com.
