Marvin T. Collins, 92, worked 47 years at IP

Marvin Thomas Collins of Murrells Inlet died May 3. He was 92.
Born Nov. 2, 1932, in Marion, he was the son of Major Collins and Emma Baker Collins. He served in the Army during the Korean War. After his service, he worked for 47 years at International Paper Co., where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
A man of deep faith and service, Mr. Collins was a lifelong member of Georgetown Church of God. He served for many years as Sunday school superintendent, a role he took great pride in as he worked to guide others in their walk with Christ.
He was married for almost 60 years to the late Betty Collins.
He is survived by his children Sharon Fulton (Richard) of Georgetown, Teresa Maring (Waldo) of Murrells Inlet and Marvie Collins of Pawleys Island; his grandson, Jamie Gaskins (Kelly); his step-grandchildren, Tara Lahnen (Charlie), Shanna Ray (Kevin) and Lacie Hallman (Clint); and six step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, his brother, Earl Collins, and his sisters, Diane Smart, Geraldine Cannon, Bernice Cullipher and Carolyn White, died before him.
A funeral service was held Wednesday at Georgetown Church of God. Burial with military honors was at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
