Melissa K. Maresca, architect and interior designer

Melissa K. Maresca of Charleston, a second-home owner on Pawleys Island, died Dec. 26 from unforeseen medical complications.
Mrs. Maresca was a registered architect and certified interior designer. She worked as a mentor to her husband, Mark, of Maresca & Associate Architects.
She survived 25 years of trigeminal neuralgia and was miraculously cured seven years ago.
She was known by all for her honesty, straightforwardness and sensitivity to life and all its struggles.
Her passions were her family, politics and football.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Lauren Carlson (Carl) of Charleston and Kathryn Faull (Chase) of Riverside, Ill.; and her granddaughters, Anna Lucian Carlson and Louise Augusta Faull.
Her parents and one brother died before her.

A casual get together was held on New Year’s Day at the family home.
