Pamela W. Lominac, 79, led children’s ministry
July 17, 2025
Pamela Walker Lominac of Pawleys Island died June 29 in Georgetown surrounded by her family. She was 79.
She was born Nov. 2, 1945, in Ybor City, Fla., the daughter of Alva Quincy Pettit and Thelma Barnett Pettit.
She graduated in 1967 from Erskine College with a degree in elementary education and later earned a master’s degree in early childhood development from Coastal Carolina University. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Charlotte. She later found her calling at All Saints Episcopal Church, where she served as director of Children’s Ministry/Children’s Church.
Miss Pam used her God given vision to design and build unique children’s worship centers. She was well known for her passion and creativity in facilitating and building an environment for children to thrive, learn and connect with Jesus. From creative puppet shows and original Bible skits to building elaborate sets for youth performances, she engaged members of all ages in the children’s program.
She was admired for her talents as an artist, painter, interior designer, birthday party planner, aerobics instructor, clothes designer, jewelry maker, master knitter and top notch chef. She also loved to sew, cook and bake. Mrs. Lominac was not known to do anything “plain,” as she liked to say. Later in life, she enjoyed spending time on her porches talking with her birds, enjoying her oak trees, laughing and having porch therapy with friends and family. She loved the Pawleys Island community where she lived for almost 40 years and especially held dear her close neighborhood friends in the Oak Lea community, women’s Bible study and exercise classes at the YMCA.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Lominac; her daughter, Mary Kathryn Walker of Asheville, N.C.; her sons, James Floyd “Jamie” Walker Jr. of Pawleys Island and John Michael Walker (Shelly) of Greenville; her stepsons, Christopher Mark Lominac of Greer and Kevin Daniel Lominac (Anna) of Bangor, Maine; her grandchildren; Brandon Carter, Elizabeth Blake Walker and Bryson James Walker of Pawleys Island, Caroline Henderson Walker and John Michael Walker Jr. of Greenville; and her step-grandchildren, Savanah Grace Lominac, Mackenzie Brooke Lominac and Leia Lominac of Greer; her sisters, Kathryn Baker of Kentucky and Susan Ernst of Ohio, and her brother, Samuel Pettit of Virginia.
Another brother, Alva Quincy Pettit III, died before her.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel at Pawleys Island Community Church.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908 or to Wounded Warriors, 1120 G Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005.
