Phyllis F. Doran, 92, ‘pink lady’ at hospital

Phyllis Fleming Doran of Pawleys Island  died April 23. She was 92.

She was born Feb. 17, 1933, in Lafayette, Ind., the daughter of Herbert and Leatha Mintner Fleming. Phyllis graduated from West Point High School and Indiana Business College. She retired from Egyptian Lacquer Manufacturing Co. and moved to Eatonton, Ga., in 1992. There she was a member of the Putnam General Hospital Auxiliary. She loved her work as a “pink lady.”

She was also a member of the Town and Country Garden Club, Georgia Master Gardeners and Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church. 

In 2018, she and her husband moved to Pawleys Island to be closer to family. 

Mrs. Doran was happiest working in her garden and being around her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Pat Doran; her children, Patti of St. Louis, Pamela Cavallo of Oak Park, Ill., Mark Doran (Stella Mercado) of Pawleys Island; her grandchildren, Chris Cavallo (Barbara Santiago) of Chicago, Natalie Cavallo of Chicago and Alex and Nicolas Doran of Pawleys Island; and her brother, Alden Fleming (JoAnn) of Lafayette. 

Her other siblings, Ruth Hood, Bea Triska, Lola Scheider, John Fleming, Marcia Davis and Virginia Martin, died before her.
