Ronald K. Brodrick, 87, retired Bell Atlantic manager

Ronald Kerr Brodrick of Murrells Inlet died Aug. 29 at his home. He was 87.
He was born Sept. 2, 1936, in Camden, N.J., the son of J.F Brodrick Jr. and Josephine Kerr Brodrick. He served in the Army on active duty for two years in Germany and spent four years in the reserves.
He then went on to work for Bell Atlantic (now Verizon), retiring in 1991 after 35 years of service as manager.
In his younger years, Mr. Brodrick enjoyed tennis, biking, golf and bowling and was a member of Westwood Tennis and Swim Club in Easthampton, N.J. He was also a member of Mount Holly-Vincentown Kiwanis Club in New Jersey
He was a member and deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Holly. He later became an elder member and clerk of sessions for Trinity Presbyterian Church in Surfside Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Brodrick; his son, Ronald Kerr Brodrick II (Theresa) of Surfside Beach; his daughters, Diane E. Nelson (Douglas) of Lumberton, N.J., and Brenda Warren (Brad) of Merchantville, N.J.; his grandchildren, Marie, Patrick, Derrick, Alec, Bradley and Andrew; his great-grandchildren, Aidan and Luke; and a large extended family.
His siblings, David Brodrick and Joanne Brodrick, died before him.
A celebration of his life will be held Sept. 12 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
